catch up 밀린 이야기 좀 하자~

catch up

 

말 그대로 ‘따라잡다’의 의미.

앞서가는 누군가 또는 무언가를 따라잡을 때 사용한다.

to reach someone in front of you by going faster than them

to reach the same quality or standard as someone or something else

그리고 최근 소식이나 뉴스, 오랜만에 근황을 이야기할 때도 사용하는 표현이다.

to talk with someone you know in order to exchange news or information

물리적으로든 추상적으로든 무언가를 따라잡거나 쫓는다면 catch up을 써보자.

 

 

Examples

 

I want to go to the restroom, so go on to the restaurant without me. I’ll catch up later.

먼저 식당에 가 있어. 화장실 들렀다가 바로 따라갈게.

 

He was sick and off school for a week. He was excited at first but when he got back to class and realized it is hard to catch up.

그는 아파서 일주일 동안 학교를 쉬었다. 처음엔 신이 났지만, 다시 돌아와서 수업을 듣고는 진도를 따라가기가 어렵다는 걸 깨달았다.
